Course Name:  CHIROPRACTIC AND SOFT TISSUE CARE

Course Description  

This six hour distance-based course will provide Doctors of Chiropractic with the current information concerning the development and practical applications of soft tissue care as it relates to chiropractic care. This course is specifically designed for the general practicing Doctor of Chiropractic.  The learner’s activities and actual course time is tracked electronically.  The learner is engaged in this distance-based class by the use of interactive teaching tools.                       

Course Objectives / Outcomes:

In this course the learner will:

  • Review the current and past history as it relates to soft tissue care.
  • Understand the risks associated with using sort tissue techniques.
  • Develop a methodology for treatment of soft tissue conditions.
  • Define different methods of therapeutic stretching.
  • Investigate the current science as it relates to soft tissue injuries.

Course Outline:

Hour 

1.      Introduction to soft tissue care

2.      Physiology of soft tissue healing processes.

3.      Historical progression of soft tissue care – part one

4.      Historical progression of soft tissue care continued and identification of complications to care.

5.      Methods of soft tissue care.

6.      Therapeutic stretching techniques

 

Evaluation Methods:

            The learner’s time spent studying and participating in the course is tracked electronically.  A formal multiple-choice examination is administered at the termination of the course materials.  There will be at least three questions for every hour of the class.  The learner will also be required to construct essay materials related to the case studies. The learner must receive a score of 75% of the total possible points to receive credit for the course.  Learners not achieving the pass rate will be directed to additional study by the instructor and allowed to re-take the examination.
