Just like having a book, pen and paper for traditional classes, you will need to have the required technology to take a DConline, eCollege course. Please use this guide as a checklist of the necessary items.  These technical items are absolutely essential to your success with online courses.

BROWSER TEST
  • You will need to use an Internet browser to access the online classes.  Your browser will be required to run certain applications. You will need a Java capable browser; minimally a browser version 5.5 or better. Downloads for the newest browser versions are free of charge. To upgrade your browser to the latest version on the market, click on the appropriate link below.
  •  Wondering if your browser meets the specs?  Click on the Browser Test to go to eCollege's site and test your browser.

  • Get Adobe Reader Get Adobe Reader
    • Some files require you to have the Adobe reader loaded on your computer.
    • It is a  Free Download!

    To take advantage of the latest technology incorporated in this site, and to minimize the need for additional plug-in downloads, eCollege recommends using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or better on a PC and 4.5 or better on a MAC.

  • MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

    To take full advantage of the interactivity of the courses, the following system profiles are REQUIRED:

    Windows 95, 98, or NT90 MHz Pentium Processor
    32 MB of RAM
    28.8 kbps Modem
    Sound Card
    Speakers

    MAC
    MacOs 8.1 or Later
    Power PC Processor (604 PowerPC minimum)

    You will need an Internet Service Provider (ISP). An ISP is a company that can provide you with the software necessary for getting onto the Internet. You will need Internet access to take your courses.

    You will need to establish an email address when you sign up with an ISP. Check with your ISP if you do not know what your email address is. Check out Yahoo! Mail or MSN Hotmail for information on these two free email providers.
