DConline Information for...

Hotmail Users

Please make sure that your Hotmail account is open and accepting email.  Email is a vital means of communication for your online class and it is your responsibility to monitor your email account.

Hotmail accounts do not accept new email if they are full.  Please check your email account a minimum of three times a week during your online course.  It is also very wise to monitor your junk mail box for DConline mail and to empty your junk mail box often.

Hotmail Junk Mail Filter

Important course related email may be delivered to your junk mail box depending on how your junk mail filter is set. To check your junk mail filter open your Hotmail account, click on options, and click on Junk Mail Filter. If your Junk Mail Filter is set on Low, High, or Exclusive, some course related email would be delivered to your Junk Mail box.

Here are two options doctors are using successfully to get DConline email:

1) Set the Junk Mail filter to the "OFF" position.

2) Monitor their Junk Mail box and when course related email appears they click on "this is not junk mail" and future messages from that person go to the In Box.

AOL Users

Even though America Online (AOL) is not a browser, it is also best to use the most recent version. Also, please note that many of our users have had great success using an external browser - one of the above - while logged onto AOL as an ISP. To get to this external browser:

First, sign on to AOL, but do NOT click "go to the web."

Minimize the AOL window (there is probably a small icon in the upper right corner of your AOL window which will allow you to minimize it)

Now go to the "Start" menu of your computer, select "Programs", and select "Internet Explorer" or "Netscape Communicator." This will open up a new, "external" browser.

When you open up the browser, type the web address of your school's online campus into the address bar and click the "enter" key on your keyboard.

Login as usual.

You will want to access your courses this way each time to avoid many problems.

Since you will not be using AOL's browser, you will need to go back to AOL every 30 minutes or so and do something to "remind" AOL that you are there. This can be something as minor as checking your email. If you do not do this, AOL will sign you off after 45 minutes.
