How is Distance Education different from a regular face-to-face class?
An Online Educational course "simulates" a traditional classroom. Students from geographically dispersed areas begin courses at the same or different times. On the website syllabi, assignments and activities are fully explained in detail. Students are not required to be on the web at a specific time. Your learning experience is very self-directed regarding when you access the course work.

Student's activities may include reading text, watching instructional videos, visiting websites, completing exams, and participation in threaded discussions.

How much time will I need to devote to my online classes?
People generally have the misconception that because a course is online, it will not be as challenging as the live version. In fact, just the opposite is true. In many cases students say that online courses are more challenging than face-to-face classes. Although these online classes do not take place in a traditional classroom, you can expect to invest as much, if not more, time and energy to successfully complete an online course. Just like in the traditional classroom, online students complete assignments, take tests, and participate in discussions. You must spend at least six or twelve hours in your course depending on which course you enrolled in. The main benefit is that you do it on your own schedule!

What happens if I am bumped off the internet while I am working through a course?

Do I have to do the course all in one sitting?
You can log on at any time, for as long or as short a period of time as you wish. Your total time must meet the hour requirement for the course. Feel free to take as much time as you need to complete the course work, within the term you signed up for, there is no maximum time.

Can I return to a course after I have taken it to refresh my memory or use it as a resource?
You will be able to return to a course only during the term you are enrolled. If there is a reference you wish to save you can typically print the materials, but you may not not redistribute the materials.

How do I successfully complete a course?
To successfully complete the course you will complete an open book online evaluation at the end of the course materials. You must log the correct time within the course. The questions are in a Multiple Choice or True/False format. You will also have practical skills evaluated and taught by your doctor. All three of the following must be done for successful completion of the Chiropractic Assistant course:

1. Your online time must equal the number of hours you need for classroom, depending on the course you are enrolled in.
2. Score 75% on the online examination(s).
3. Complete the practical skills manual. These manual(s) document your skill proficiencies and the practical training hours you receive from your supervising doctor.

What if I fail the examination?

You will then be allowed to retake the examination at no additional cost. DConline has certified over 900 CAs across the United States. No student is allowed to fail the course because they did not pass a test on the first try!
