If you cannot find the newest edition use the above link to find a copy of the first edition.

Arnheim's Principles of Athletic Training

This market-leading text emphasizes the prevention and management of athletic injuries.  It is a foundational text for athletic training. This is an appropriate text for a CCSP resource in seeking the CCSP professional certification.

More than 12 million preparticipation exams (PPE) are conducted yearly in the USA, most schools require a PPE for athletic clearance, and the PPE form is the gold standard for conducting the exams. This improved and expanded edition includes new full-color diagrams, new chapters on disabled athletes, and a detailed physical examination section.   The second edition of this very successful book includes chapters on methods of manual treatment and provides  instructions on examinations and special tests. Included are hundreds of diagrams, photographs, illustrations, and summary charts.

The Clinical Application of Outcomes Assessment
Author:
Steven G. Yeomans
Publisher: Appleton & Lange; 2000.  696 pages. $70.00.

A really nice reference that contains many great tools for measuring patient outcomes.

This is a sweet little orthopedic reference. It was designed to fit in a lab coat pocket. (Do we still where those?) Dr. Ron "Bones" Evans shows his mettle with this no nonsense just cut to the chase clinical reference.

Just Some Personal Favorites

Almost Human

Hey! How about this one?? This is a science fiction book written by my brother. Yup, he's got game in writing books too! This is a futuristic story about  the development of the human heart with plenty of action!

Blink

This book is a great read if you are interested in finding out why you think the way you do! It is one of my favorites and well worth reading twice.

It provides some great insight to what we doctors might think is intuition. This is one of my favorite books.

The Tipping Point

The best way to understand the dramatic transformation of the rise of teenage smoking, or the phenomena of word of mouth or any number of the other mysterious changes that mark everyday life is to think of them as epidemics. Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just like viruses do.
